What does neuromuscular rehabilitation involve?

After we evaluate the specific needs of a patient, we select a technique or a combination of techniques to serve the individual’s needs.

Techniques can include but are not limited to the following:

  • Repetitive Task Practice
  • Motor Relearning
  • Modified Constraint-induced Therapy
  • Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT)
  • Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex (VOR) Exercises
  • Balance Training
  • Functional Electrical Stimulation.

How long will neuromuscular rehabilitation take?

The duration depends on the diagnosis and the patient’s condition. Typically, skilled therapy following a stroke will last between two to six months. We then progress to activities which are individualised to achieve results in a structured setting.

What are our additional services?

  • Physiotherapy
  • Gait Analysis & Training (promotes walking skills)
  • Balance Training (reduced risk of falling)
  • Transfer Training (sit to stand, bed mobility, wheelchair to bed or chair, floor to stand)
  • Equipment for Mobility
  • Joint Range of Motion, Strengthening & Endurance
  • Orthotics Management
  • Patient & Family Education

When does the patient need our expertise?

  1. To Reduce or Eliminate Pain

Patients can experience a reduction in their pain through our effective therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques which include joint and soft tissue mobilization or treatments such as ultrasound, taping or electrical stimulation. Such therapies restore muscle and can also prevent pain from returning.

  1. To Avoid Surgery

Sometimes, physical therapy itself is enough to reduce pain or heal from an injury. In the event that surgery is mandatory, pre-surgery physical therapy will help a patient enter the operation theater in better shape and recover faster post-surgery.

  1. To Improve Mobility

Regardless of age, physical therapy can greatly help patients who experience difficulty in standing, walking or moving. Our personalised treatments which include stretching and strengthening exercises, providing canes, crutches or any other assistive device can help restore their ability to move.

  1. To Recover From a Stroke

Stroke patients usually lose function and movement to a certain extent. Our techniques help strengthen the weakened parts of their body and improve their gait and balance.

We focus on working tirelessly towards restoring the patient’s movement and empower them with independence enough to dress, bathe and perform other normal activities.

  1. To Recover From or Prevent a Sports Injury

We as physical therapists comprehend the risk that athletes and individuals are subjected to when they engage in different sports activities. Our personalised recovery and prevention exercise programs can empower patients to return to their sports fitter and stronger.

What are our types of treatments?

We also employ other types of treatments based on the patient’s requirements:

  1. Physical Therapy in Conjunction with Medical Treatment

Here, a combination of Physical Therapy & Drugs s used to relieve the patient’s physical problems.

  1. Physical Therapy in Conjunction with Surgical Treatment

Pre & Post surgery care is combined with the surgical procedure for an effective outcome.

  1. Isolated Physiotherapy

Sometimes Physical Therapy treatment alone is sufficient to treat a physical problem effectively.
